Finding Support Whilst Waiting for Support

Updated: 2 days ago

My health has made me focus on what really matters.

Whilst spending years trying to understand my own health, I have learnt the difficulties when access to medical professionals and dietitians has been limited by long waiting lists and stretched healthcare services.

I look back and see how easy it was to feel invisible, and to worry whether anyone was going to take my health journey seriously. For years, I lived with many complex, overlapping symptoms that felt completely random. It was exhausting. Finding someone who understood was difficult and took time.

I have met many healthcare professionals along the way, both professionally and as a patient. Some have been easily accessible, some not so, but an NHS dietitian became a key part of my journey. I remember being so incredibly anxious before my first appointment with her. But after listening to me, she looked at me and simply said, “I believe you.”

After feeling invisible and dismissed by the health system for so long, having my health struggles taken seriously was an overwhelming relief. She understood the complex science, the nutrition, but she also saw the person sitting in front of her.

Someone was there for me when I needed it most, and that is exactly why I am here for you.

My journey showed me that my wellness wasn't about treating any single symptom or looking at any diagnosis in isolation, and the dietitian who helped me knew that—it was also about understanding how my body systems worked together, including my metabolic health.

Metabolic Health: The Connected Pillars of Well-Being

It is easy to think about our health one thing at a time — partly because that is often how the health system approaches things too. But our bodies do not work in isolation. Everything is connected, and understanding that can make a real difference to our health journey.

For many people, health doesn’t feel like one thing — it feels like lots of things happening at once, often with no obvious connection between them. Blood pressure, blood glucose, and weight are just some of the areas where this shows up. But the body works as a whole, and sometimes understanding that can make the bigger picture feel a little clearer.

Where Does a Dietitian Fit In? And What About Nutritional Therapy?

Because your history and your body are unique, there is no single thing that works for everyone. What helps is having someone sit with you, understand your lifestyle, your preferences, and your reality — and build a personalised plan from there.

That is what I do. Through dietetic support and nutritional therapy, the focus stays on you as a whole person.

To the person who is functioning but not thriving — who is unsure or does not know what steps to take moving forward — book a no obligation chat with me to explore how I can help.
